Zenith Labs

Salam.

This is a collection of the photos we have taken during lab sessions. We made this to help anyone (not just our batch members. Maybe it can help our 2nd year seniors too?) with the OSPE exam this block.

  • Please read the intro message when you first open the site
  • This is not complete. We are still in the process of adding more photos. YOU can help.
  • Humans are not perfect. If there is any correction to be made, please tell us! We would feel so guilty if we posted false info for everyone. Spare us the guilt, ok?
  • If you think this website can bring benefit to people, then please spread the word and tell your friends too! Please don't be selfish.
Ok, byebye.

Professor Oak works in a lab. Geddit? Labs. Haha, I'm so funny.

Thank you to all the people who have helped (and will help). May Allah bless you all for your efforts.

All Notes for Pak Nasa's Lectures

Assalamualaikum.

Now that Prof Nasa has finished all his lectures with us this block (so sad!), the academic lujnah has compiled all the notes we have made for his lectures.

Because we are awesome, we've provided 3 different methods for you to access them:

1. Download all in one winRAR archive.

2. Download one by one from Google Docs

3. Via Scribd

* I really don't recommend downloading from Scribd, because it messes up the formatting. It's fine if you want to view them online.

* I arranged the files according to the lecture topics (according to the block 3 lecture list). Although, I combined Systemic Mycoses and Opportunistic Mycoses because I couldn't tell the difference. I dunno, maybe Pak Nasa already combined them...I wasn't really paying much attention in class. =P

* I've made a few corrections. So if you've downloaded these files before, it wouldn't hurt to download them again.

* Sorry, my formatting is very ugly. What can I say? I'm a guy. We're lazy. That's why I'm letting you download them in soft copy format: So you can EDIT them yourselves.

* Any corrections are appreciated. Feel free to tell me. XD

* Thank you to all the people who have helped with this effort. InsyaAllah, your reward is with Him.

* Want to thank us? No need. Just pray for the success of the whole batch, okay?

That's all. Study hard for the final exam! Ganbatte, everyone!

I'm putting this picture of Doraemon here so that I'll have a nice picture to choose as a preview when posting this to Facebook.

Wassalam

PROHIBITIONS THAT ARE TAKEN TOO LIGHTLY

MUHARAMAT

PROHIBITIONS THAT ARE TAKEN TOO LIGHTLY

Deviantart ~Hunter's Gaze

Deliberately looking at a non-mahram woman

-Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and to protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what they do.” [al-Noor 24:30]

-The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "The adultery of the eyes is by looking" (i.e. by looking at what Allaah has forbidden). (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see Fath al-Baari, 11/26). Looking for a legitimate purpose is exempted from this rule, such as looking at a woman for marriage purposes, or a doctor examining a patient for medical reasons, etc.

-Women are equally forbidden to look at non-mahram men, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things) and to protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) . . .” [al-Noor 24:31]

-Men are also forbidden to look with desire at a man with a hairless or beautiful face. Men are forbidden to look at the ‘awrah of other men, and women are forbidden to look at the ‘awrah of other women. If it is forbidden to look at something, it is forbidden to touch it, even over clothing. One of the ways in which Shaytaan deceives people is by making them think that there is nothing wrong with looking at pictures in magazines or watching movies, because what is seen is not “real,” even though such images clearly cause so much damage by provoking desires.

The Etiquette of Women walking in the Street

Keep Walking - Day 168
by *escaped-emotions

Allah's saying:

﴿وَلاَ يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ﴾

(And let them not stamp their feet...) During Jahiliyyah, when women walked in the street wearing anklets and no one could hear them, they would stamp their feet so that men could hear their anklets ringing. Allah forbade the believing women to do this. By the same token, if there is any other kind of adornment that is hidden, women are forbidden to make any movements that would reveal what is hidden, because Allah says:

﴿وَلاَ يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ(

(And let them not stamp their feet...) to the end of it. From that, women are also prohibited from wearing scent and perfume when they are going outside the home, lest men should smell their perfume. Abu `Isa At-Tirmidhi recorded that Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Prophet said:

«كُلُّ عَيْنٍ زَانِيَةٌ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ إِذَا اسْتَعْطَرَتْ فَمَرَّتْ بِالْمَجْلِسِ فَهِيَ كَذَا وَكَذَا»

(Every eye commits fornication and adultery, and when a woman puts on perfume and passes through a gathering, she is such and such) -- meaning an adulteress. He said, "And there is a similar report from Abu Hurayrah, and this is Hasan Sahih.'' It was also recorded by Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i. By the same token, women are also forbidden to walk in the middle of the street, because of what this involves of wanton display. Abu Dawud recorded that Abu Usayd Al-Ansari said that he heard the Messenger of Allah , as he was coming out of the Masjid and men and women were mixing in the street, telling the women:

«اسْتَأْخِرْنَ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَكُنَّ أَنْ تَحْقُقْنَ الطَّرِيقَ، عَلَيْكُنَّ بِحَافَّاتِ الطَّرِيقِ»

(Keep back, for you have no right to walk in the middle of the street. You should keep to the sides of the road.) The women used to cling to the walls so much that their clothes would catch on the walls.

Parasitology notes

Assalamulaikum w.b.t. These are some Parasitology notes I made early this block. These notes SHOULD NOT replace your lecture notes/books, but sufficient for quick revision. All the notes are in table form for easy reading. I purposely left the life cycles out, because it's better if you understand and draw them yourself. I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes I might have missed while checking. Feel free to correct and add to your own copy of the notes. And if you have your own notes that you think will be useful to your friends, please share with everyone! The more we share, the more knowledge we gain, InsyaAllah.

I didn't do notes on Microsporidia, Human blood flukes and Trichomonas vaginalis, so you won't find them here.

Entamoeba histolytica (This protozoa is so common and important, it gets its own page)

Free living Amoeba, Giardia Lambdia, Balantidium coli.
(Random: Whenever I see Balandium coli, I think of "Babi", which is a crude Malay word for pig. B. coli is also the only organism we learn that has a cytopyg. XD)

Coccidia (All protozoa in this page produce oocyst. Toxoplasma gondii also produces oocyst, but like E. histolytica, it has its own page)

Toxoplasma gondii + Pneumocystis carinii

Intestinal flukes
Liver flukes
Lung flukes
*Life cycles omitted. Please draw them yourself.

I hope you'll find this useful. All the best for minitest and all the exams we'll have in the future.
